Student Example 15:Community Workshop with high school sculpture students
In 2014 I wrote and received a grant through the Wausau School Foundation for materials to run a 4-week sculpture workshop and aluminum pour at Wausau East High School with my former art teacher Joel Pataconi and his sculpture class. The project involved each student creating their own reversed-design as a drawing that would then be transferred to a sand mold. The molds were cast in aluminum during the annual 2015 C.A.F.E. (Cultural Arts Festival at East) event, which afforded students and 100’s of community members an opportunity to experience an engaging and interactive art process first-hand. Each student’s finished relief casting was then assembled into a permanent sculpture. Confluence, was installed and dedicated during the 2016 C.A.F.E.
